Johnivan Darby

The scope of my original works have been primarily influenced by a heavy absorption of animated comic mischief from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon at a younger age. As I grew older, my fixation on exaggerated reality became an addiction and I trained myself to visually express that addiction through my own cartoons. I adored character development and despised a clichè narrative, so some of my work contained complex storyboards and heavy dialogue. Once I learned that people generally don’t look to read too much, I decided to try my hand at another field of design.

Graphic design came easy for me to learn since I had already taught myself most of the adobe software programs I had access to. However, it took about a few years for me to understand that it was something I was good at, because my mind was mostly focused on cartooning. Through my freelance work, I’ve come to realize that it’s not the process of doing the work that makes it pleasing but the ending result of seeing a happy customer that makes it satisfying.
